Hello! This is Maria Karina Sanchez Velasco (Senior Research Associate and Nightwatch Person of R2L) and Manuel Luis Espinoza (Intergalactic Ambassador for Life) and welcome to the Right2Learn Dignity Lab blog! What are we about? We study the experience of dignity in education and we fight for public schools that recognize and respect the dignity of each and every child, adolescent, and person in the public schools. As an organic part of a 15-year commitment to studying dignity, we are now in the midst of our public campaign to amend the “education clause” of the Colorado constitution. (The education clause guides the government in its responsibilities in establishing and maintaining the public schools.) Click here to read the original 1876 clause alongside our candidate amendment.
What can you expect from this blog? Through our monthly posts, the narrative of R2L, our collective hopes and dreams, will be revealed as each of our members introduces themselves. Next month, R2L’s Directora, Tania Soto-Valenzuela, will have the distinct pleasure of introducing herself to you. She is the beating heart of our research familia..
When can you expect this blog? Around the middle of every month. We want you to come to anticipate and savor our posts, not view them as simply one more thing in an already cluttered inbox.
If you want to know more about our candidate amendment, upcoming events, or action you can take to help us reform Colorado’s public schools, follow us on our social media platforms with the handle @r2ldignitylab – Thank you for taking the time to read our first post and see you next month!
